The Island of Oahu is known as the
Gathering Place.
Oahu has the largest population
in Hawaii, and is the most ethnically diverse. The many
different ethnic groups bring their own cultural heritage to the
island for a rich, interesting mix.
While Hawaiian dance,
music and arts are showcased year round, you can also enjoy
Chinese New Year, Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival, Portuguese
Malasada Day, German Oktoberfest, a Greek Festival, Puerto Rican
Fiesta, and Native American Powwow, just to name a few.
There is always something
happening on Oahu.
The island of Oahu is
approximately 600 square miles, and is home to 900,000
residents. It is the 2nd oldest island in
the Hawaiian chain.
Honolulu is both the State Capital and
seat of the County Government. This is where you will find
the airport and shipping ports and it is the business, financial
and educational heart of the state.
